the installation would consist of upto 7 individual 'premature sculptures' located in specific locations around central london (most would be in high pedestrian thoroughfare locations)
'premature sculpture' explains the idea of a sculpture started/outlined by a selected artist that will be finished by the people
the people will finish the sculptures over decades, perhaps longer as they form the shape outlined by the artists with their hands as they pass it
they would be touchstones
the sculptures would be created by thousands of londoners and visitors over a extensive time period
the inspiration comes from the great mountain passes in the east, the steps in the great colleges worn concave as are the stones over the hedges on the public rights of way on the moors
the inspiration is the frenetic motion and the mobility of london's citizens across this city for hundreds of years and the emerging narrative that people desire connection, even if ephemeral, within the ambiguity and chosen isolation of the city
the installation remains unrealised
