project submitted to dickson & russell for the spitalfields development corporation's public art programme, 2006
it was rejected (and unrealised) after months of discussion, i have been told at the decision of the ceo not the public art committee
. . .
main elements to the project were/are:
discussion of dwelling and to dwell / debate around 'home', the 'dream home' / communicating change in spitalfields
further development of my earlier project 'intact' focussing on the major themes that were and became central
building a new house, on stilts ('intact' should stay where it is as it is part of the landscape) easily adapted by each artist
'cafe pernilla' is a sentimental name
temporary installation (upto 12 months) four artists, three months each, internal and external
artists selected were to focus on dwelling and i) coffee and coffee houses ii) commerce iii) migration iv) play
damien frost, was to be flown back from oz, one of the greatest regrets of the project having been unrealised
. . .
i had enormous assistance and guidance for this project from chintan gohil
images for lamb street
. . .
this project would be an very suitable installation within the foyer of a large city office with a programme of artists across 12 months
